Choosing the Right Ship Chandler: A Practical Checklist

Choosing the Right Ship Chandler: A Practical Checklist

Provisions arriving late cost real money. Here is the checklist we recommend before signing with any chandling partner.

A reliable chandler keeps a vessel moving; an unreliable one turns a routine port call into expensive idle time. Before you sign, run through this checklist.

The checklist

  • Coverage - can they serve you at both port and anchorage?
  • Lead times - ask for their guaranteed delivery windows, not estimates.
  • Cold chain - fresh provisions need documented temperature control.
  • References - two or three recent vessels of a similar class.

Red flags

  1. No written confirmation of delivery slots.
  2. Quotes that exclude launch-boat or handling fees.
  3. No 24/7 operations contact.

Our supply team covers all of the above - see what we deliver.
